John
has been involved in the garage business since his apprenticeship at
British Leyland in the early seventies. He has a great enthusiasm for
sports cars and exotica of which he has personally owned numerous desirable
models from Aston Martins to E-Types to Lotus. He has for the last 14
years or so been racing Lotus Esprits and is now well into the development
of an Alfa Romeo GT historic racecar. .Recently he has been sidetracked
by an Aston Martin DB4 GT Recreation project for his own personal use(having
owned Astons for 20 years)
A letter from one of my recent customers with a pre-war
Rover restored by us:-
: John, Thanks for these great pictures.
I guess you do not have any of the rust? When we got home a neighbour
had festooned our drive with British flags for Rover's home coming and
we took him, his wife and another - very pregnant - woman neighbour
out for a trial spin which they enjoyed. I then met old really posh
car enthusiast, David Furnell of the Hemel transport company - he lives
up the road. He inspected the car and pronounced we could not have done
better than choose you to do the job. There will be an article in which
you and modest Martin will feature prominently - in due course. In my
excitement I forgot to shake his hand and thank him but I think he knows
how much I admire his work and appreciate him. Nonetheless, please give
him my hearty thanks. In due course we shall be back for the golden
coach line. It has been a pleasure working with both of you. I have
enjoyed getting to know you! Kind regards,
